“There is a reason we chose to do this ceremony in Tompkins County,” Reed said. “We want to make sure that everyone in the 23rd district knows, especially those in the new part of the district, that we are available.
“Our top priority is accessibility moving into this new term,” Reed continued. “That means we’ll be meeting with folks from all across the district in each of our eleven counties. We are a resource for everyone in Tompkins County and look forward to holding town halls here to hear your priorities.”
Reed was officially sworn into the 113th Congress on January 3, 2013 at a ceremony in Washington, DC by House Speaker John Boehner. Congressman Reed was previously sworn in to complete a term after winning a special election in November 2010 and began his first full two-year term in the 112th Congress in January 2011.
The newly-drawn 23rd Congressional District includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins and Yates counties.
