voteMost registered voters in Tompkins County will be getting a yellow 'mail check' postcard from the Board of Elections during the week of August 5. This card tells the voter what election district they live in and where their poll site is.

Due to redistricting, voters in the City of Ithaca, Caroline, Dryden and the Town of Ithaca should pay special attention to their polling location, as it may have changed.

County Legislative Districts are not listed on the card, but you can go to the Board of Elections Web site to view a cross reference chart if you want to verify your Legislative District.

The card is also a way to confirm that the voter still lives at the address on record. If you receive a card for someone who no longer resides there, please mark the card accordingly and drop it back in the mail.

Note that the Primary Election is September 10, but you can only vote if you belong to a party actually having a primary in your election district.

Not all voters will receive the mail check card. For example, if you registered or submitted an address change to the Board of Elections in 2013, you will not be mailed a card. Contact the Board if you have any questions about you registration status.

The Board of Elections is located at 128 E. Buffalo Street, Ithaca, NY, and open M-F 8:30 – 4:30. For more information contact Commissioners Elizabeth W. Cree (R) or Stephen M. DeWitt (D) at 607-274-5522.
