Born May 21, 1955, on his paternal grandmother’s birthday, Dan loved life and lived it to the fullest.
After graduating Ithaca High School in 1973, he attended college in Florida for a year before enlisting in the US Navy, where he served for 4 ½ years on a submarine. Dan was a proud to be a Veteran. He then went on to work for the US Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster in Brooktondale at the age of 55. During his time with the Postal Service he completed his bachelor’s degree at Ithaca College.
Dan fulfilled his “bucket list” with adventures including scuba diving, skydiving, riding in a hot air balloon and a glider, taking flying lessons at East Hill Flying Club, ziplining, and riding many roller coasters. He was a member of the Elks Club, was a big fan of Ithaca College football and attended many games with his friends. Dan loved riding motorcycles with his son, David, and his buddies at Groton Cycle Center. His passion was teaching motorcycle safety classes to help others fulfill their dream and to be safe riders. Playing golf was also a favorite of Dan’s. He volunteered his time in various capacities, including the Finger Lakes Reuse Center and the Lansing Food Pantry. Dan had many friends at the Lansing Gym. He made friends easily and every friend he made were friends were life.
Dan always said his proudest accomplishment in life was his son, David.
