John Reynolds, 84, of Ithaca, NY, passed away on Saturday December 8, 2007 at home in Ithaca. He was predeceased by his wife, Kay; and his brothers, infant Anthony Balaski, Robert Balaski, Walter Tyc, Joseph Tyc. John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Rudy Maneff; son, John Wylie Reynolds; daughter, Paula Reynolds; grandchildren, Rudy, Brian, Kevin Maneff; sisters, Florence Wisniewski, Pearl Keksz, Nellie Wisniewski, Frances Srednicki, Dorothy and Al Feldbauer; and many nieces and nephews.

John was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 8, 1923, the son of Walter and Cecelia Balaski. After serving as a pilot during WWII with the US Army-Air Corps, in 1950, he moved to Buffalo to pursue a career in radio announcing. He worked for 19 years in the Buffalo area as the "voice of public television," also specializing in commercial voiceovers. John also worked during that time in Public Relations for Goodwill Industries to support his family, and was especially proud of his accomplishment of providing Cornell educations to his three children. After retirement, he spent 15 years as a volunteer for the Western New York Independent Living Project, Inc., contributing to their state and nationwide campaigns for accessibility rights for the disabled.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, located at St. Catherine Circle, off Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY, on Thursday December 13, 2007, at 11:00am with Father Michael Mahler officiating. Friends are invited to call at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY, on Wednesday December 12, 2007, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
