Born January 3, 1943, on Long Island, Linda was a daughter of the late Robert Christian and Bertha May (Brown) Baur. After graduating High School, she received her RN from Saint Joseph's School of Nursing in New York City and embarked on a very rewarding career in nursing. Education was extremely important to Linda and she chose to return to school later in life to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. Throughout her career Linda worked in many facets of nursing, including research, pediatrics and geriatrics.
Linda took great pride in being a nurse and exhibited the utmost in professionalism. She was employed at the Groton Nursing Facility until the time of her passing. The residents, whom she treated like family, will surely miss her care.
Linda had a great passion for Cayuga Lake and was happy to have been able to live on its shore for the past 20 years. She was an avid reader and lifelong crafter, from making little league banners for her son's baseball teams, to sewing clothes, scrap booking and painting. She enjoyed many travels with her close friends, Rich and Cheryl Hite and their family. A true patriot, she loved decorating for and celebrating the 4th of July. Linda's greatest joy in life was her son, Christian. As a single mother, she dedicated herself to raising Christian in a nurturing environment and instilled in him a strong, positive set of values.
Linda is survived by her son, Christian (Karen) Baur of Liverpool, NY; her grandchildren, Emily and Alexander Baur of Liverpool, NY; a sister, Karen (Allen) Ollendorf of Long Island; nephews, Allen (Nancy) Ollendorf, Peter (Nora) Ollendorf and Gary Ollendorf, all of Long Island.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a dear friend, Natalie Keefe.
Family will be present to receive friends on Friday, December 18th from 6-8pm at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Cheryl Peeples, will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 2pm at the funeral home.
