Born April 11, 1925, in Ithaca, NY, he was an only child of the late Lawrence and Blanche (Miller) Howe. Raised on Cascadilla St., PeeWee was a lifelong resident of the area. After high school he proudly served with the US Army. Upon his return to Ithaca PeeWee went to work with the Laborers Local 785 and retired with over 38 years of service. He and his wife, Esther, enjoyed wintering in Cocoa, Florida with their friends, Dick & Mary Turner of Lockport, NY.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, Esther Sill Howe, he is survived by a daughter, Laurie (Brian) Jackson and their daughter, Brittney of Locke; step daughters, Rose (Bill) Hall and Sadie of Lansing, Jane Hancy of Ithaca, and her son, Stephen (Cara) Hancy with their child, Hunter, of VT, and Georgette Burke with her children, Lucas and Desiree of Lansing. PeeWee is also survived by several cousins in Schenectady, NY, and his faithful canine companion, Tiffany.
Those wishing to remember PeeWee in the form of a contribution may consider Groton Nursing Facility, Activities Fund, 120 Sykes St., Groton, NY 13073.
In keeping with PeeWee's wishes, there will be no calling hours and services will be private. He would want everyone to "remember the good times" and toast him with a Budweiser.
The family would like to express special gratitude to Dr. Clark and the entire staff of Groton Nursing Facility for the wonderful care extended to PeeWee during his final days.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lansing Funeral Home.
