Born March 1, 1917, in Athens, Pennsylvania, Kathryn was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Katherine (Dibble) Kunes. A 1935 graduate of Athens High School, she married Bernard D. Campbell in 1936 and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage before his passing in 1995. In 1953 she and Bernard moved to Lansing where they opened Campbell’s General Store in Ludlowville and operated it for 8 years. Kathryn later worked as a purchasing agent for the Lansing Central School District, retiring in the mid 70’s.
An avid quilter, she leaves behind many beautiful pieces that her family will cherish for years to come. Kathryn also loved to read and she enjoyed her membership with The Order of The Eastern Star Chapter #250. She will be remembered for her quick wit and her love of life.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence and Bernard Kunes.
She is survived by her children; Gerald W. Campbell of Greenville, PA, Dale (Sharon) Campbell of Lansing, Kay (Joe) Darrow of Lansing; grandchildren, Sharon Burke, Dotty Mariner, Cyndi Alabran, of PA, Doug Campbell of MO, Karen (Don) Hradisky of Lansing, Brenda (Joel) Meade of King Ferry, Gale Campbell of Ithaca, Karyn (Terry) Freund of Lansing and Kelly (Eric) Gavitt of Lansing; thirteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kunes of WA, and a loving extended family.

Family will be present to receive friends at Lansing United Methodist Church from 11 am – 12pm on Monday, June 14, 2010. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor William Gottschalk-Fielding, will begin at 12:00. Rites will be offered by The Order of The Eastern Star Chapter #250. Interment at Asbury Cemetery will be private.
