Born October 31, 1949, in Cooperstown, NY, he was a son of the late F. John and Fredella (Smith) Kilts. After high school, David proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict where he earned numerous medals of honor and a bronze star. He was well known for his keen sense of humor and his love of the outdoors. David was particularly fond of and spent a lot of time in the Salt Point area of Lansing. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help with a project.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Wray and Louise Coolbaugh; brothers, Richard Kilts, Thomas Kilts; and a brother-in-law, Jack Alfreds.
He is survived by his brother, Randy Kilts of Lansing; his sisters, Nancy Alfreds of Freeville and Jean (Don) Bordonet of Lansing; a large extended family and numerous friends.
A graveside service, with Military Honors, will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lansing, NY, on Saturday, July 24th at 10am.
