The Lansing Star article on Friday Nov.8, 2014, provided excellent coverage about many of the influences affecting the budget and resulting tax rate for 2014.

However, the article failed to mention a key item that was discussed at the Forum, namely, the current use of $500,000 surplus to cover operating expenses, an unsustainable source of revenue that will deplete the Town’s current fund balance (surplus funds) below NYS Comptroller recommended levels in 2 years.

The Forum Power Point is available to the public on the Town of Lansing website homepage (click here to get itmailman).  This document provides a history of this important aspect of our budget and options that have been considered to date to correct this imbalance.


I urge all Lansing taxpayers to review the Power Point posted on the Lansing Town website in order to gain better understanding of the Town’s budget, and the Town Board’s effort to be fiscally responsible and transparent.
