I would like to take a moment to thank Kathy Miller and Ruth Hopkins for their commitment to community service on the Lansing Town Board. Many people think that individuals run for office for power and glory. The reality is that much of the service is hard work, little appreciated, and subject to much second-guessing and recrimination. Individuals serve because they care about the people, the community, and preservation of the democratic process.

Kathy and Ruth worked diligently to listen to all residents, to improve efficiency and morale, and to create sensible fiscal reserve policies. I wish them the best in their future endeavors and hope that they will continue to share their expertise with present Town Board members.
