Lansing has long been known for student achievement in academics and sports, often in spite of its size. Some of this reputation is thanks to the district's support of music, drama, and the other arts.
We know from repeated research that a background in music raises scores in all other subjects, especially math and science. Learning and performing music builds listening skill, concentration, cooperation, and attention span.
And music is a lifetime skill and source of happiness, much increased by having learned how it works.
Congratulations to Lansing Central Schools for making life better for all with music.
