mailmanShame on the water commissioners, and shame on Bolton Point.

For many years, residences have been paying for 10,000 gallons, even though many use much less. Not only is this unfair, but it encourages wasting water since the increased usage doesn't increase our bill.

A year ago, we were told that the minimum would be lowered to 5,000 gallons, which is still way more than many of us use, but at least is better than 10,000. For some unknown reason, that was delayed to start at the beginning of 2017.

Now, in the latest issue of the Lansing Star, we see "they're looking at 2018", which I guess means in another two years if we're lucky . Why the delay?  The new water meters are cited as a reason, which is too ridiculous even to comment on.  I suspect the real reason is the same reason most things seem to happen here: to delay fair rates for residences as long as possible so that we must continue subsidizing big businesses in this way, as we do with our taxes.
