mailmanIn 2004, my wife and I moved from Ithaca to Lansing for two reasons: We wanted a better school environment for our kids, and we wanted to get away from the "Ithaca Political Scene" that made us feel like we were on the outside, looking in.

Lansing has been our home ever since, and the sense of community we found here was like a breath of fresh air. A large part of that stems not only from the people we are proud to call our neighbors, but also the no-nonsense, truly "for-the-people" way that the town is currently managed. We have seen, on our own street, two points of concern that were acknowledged – excessive vehicular speeding and drainage issues. In both cases, the problems were addressed expeditiously, and the town workers involved were always pleasant and courteous.

In the past year or so, I have had the privilege of getting to know Robert Cree. I have found him to be as amiable as he is honest. I am proud to consider him as a friend. I have known Mike Sigler much longer, and have no doubts as to his determination and conviction to make Lansing as strong and sound as any community in Tompkins county. I have not had a chance to get to know Doug Dake on a personal level, but as a fellow Lansing resident, I have been impressed with his devotion and concern for the well-being of his community and those of us who reside in it. All three men possess a genuine love for Lansing, and the conviction to make it an even better place to live and work. They all have children who have either graduated from Lansing schools or are currently attending. They each have roots and a personal investment in our community. They embody the spirit that caused my wife and I to choose Lansing as our home in the first place.

In my opinion, a vote for Cree, Dake & Sigler is not only an endorsement of forward thinking, but an affirmation to preserve all of the "good" that has already been established here.
