Two, where in the world am I going to find an additional $700+ (it will likely be much more than that) a year to pay for a town sewer that I don't need?
There are also several large neighborhoods, including Autumn Ridge and East Lake that are much closer to the lake than my neighborhood, and for some reason they won't have to contribute to the cost of the sewer. Why is this?
I also keep hearing vague references to how this project will protect the lake. Where are the facts? On what page of the environmental impact statement does it say that the town of Lansing needs a sewer district to protect the lake, and that the chosen sewer route will fullfill that need?
I personally plan to get to the bottom of this issue, and expose this project for its lack of merits to the community, and benefits to a select few elite who plan to use our tax dollars to make their land developable.
Follow the money when you want to find out why the sewer committee chose the route they did, the neighborhoods and land they did, and when your tax bill comes in at twice the advertised rate, remember the names of the committee members who made promises they couldn't keep. And then ask yourself who profits from the new developments that will be subsidized on the backs of the middle class taxpayers in Lansing.
