In 1974, while I was serving as Chief of Police for the Village of Cayuga Heights, I hired Ken as a Police Officer and that was the beginning of a strong professional and personal relationship I have had with Ken for many years.
Ken has always exhibited a vision and commitment to improve the law enforcement profession. During his years at the Cayuga Heights Police Department he learned many capabilities that often can be obtained only by working in a smaller agency where you have to develop many skills.
His career in Cayuga Heights ultimately resulted in his appointment in 1998 as Chief of Police where he gained additional knowledge and leadership abilities.
Since Ken was elected Tompkins County Sheriff in 2011, he has continued to demonstrate his professional leadership skills and to manage the many responsibilities that confront a law enforcement leader. He has continued his professional training and education to be contemporary with current law enforcement challenges. He has been a strong leader while also showing compassion for those individuals his agency must deal with on a daily basis.
I strongly endorse Ken Lansing for re-election as Tompkins County Sheriff.
