I am writing in support of Dick Costello and his campaign for Town Justice.

Dick and I grew up together in Waverly, NY and have been close friends for almost 70 years. While Dick has been living in Lansing for over 45 years, I have been living in the San Francisco Bay Area for 40. I was an elected official- Member of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors for 8 years and an appointed official in San Francisco- Director of the City's Metropolitan Transportation Agency for 11 years, serving as its Chairman for 8 of those years. I also led and HIV/AIDS agency for 17 years.

While I am a lifelong Democrat and while I am well aware Dick is a Republican, I nevertheless am happy to endorse him because I have no doubt about his character, compassion and commitment to fairness.

We have spoken at length several times about his interest in this position and I am very impressed with the homework he has done by attending many court sessions and talking to and listening to court officials. I also know that Dick would be available for service at any time needed.

If I were able to cast my vote in Lansing it would be proudly for Dick Costello. I urge your thoughtful consideration of Dick's candidacy and your vote for him on election day.
