mailmanI grew up in Ludlowville in the the 1960's my mother's family the Howells have been very much a part of the town of Lansing history since 1860 .

The the 1960s Lansing Rod and gun was not really a gun club it was more a social club.  Around 1990 a wealthy big time trap shooter needing a place to practice trap shooting put a lot of money into the club and turning it environmental monster it is today . with multiple gun clubs shooting trap for days at a time shooting tons of lead into salmon creek bed every year.

The building permit signal's to NYDEC that the people of town of Lansing are OK with a gun club destroying the value of someone home so they can trap shoot lead in to side of hill where the water run off drains into Salmon Creek .

The gun club and EPA agree the 1950 practice of trap shooting with lead in flood zone and a creek bed is not a good idea The gun club agreed to stop the practice.

Why is the gun club a corporation ? It so any one involve with the corporation can walk away any time they want they will be out there 25 dollar membership fee Most home owners can not walk away from there life saving for 25 dollars .

The long time home owners that live on the other side of the creek from the trap shooting fields . Their house was build in 1920 long before the gun club . It was originally a church or as my mother use to call it the mission house . The home owners coexisted with the gun club because there house was near the rifle range, as it has been describe to me when hunters need to sight in there gun the ammunition is like five dollars a round The rifle range does not get used a lot .

Its my thought and believe that the Republican part of the town board knowing that they did not have the votes to continue this environmental insanity in the town of Lansing , 'illegally' directed the code enforcement officer to issue the building permit by any means necessary. It totally a political calculation to for the Republican base.

Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.
