Who we choose to represent us in the State Assembly this year matters more than ever. Our state legislature will be tasked with rebuilding our economy in the face of a major budget shortfall. I’m supporting Seph Murtagh because of his ability to work effectively with others, his experience in state and local government and his sterling reputation for constituent service. As chair of Ithaca’s Planning and Economic Development Committee, Seph has a deep understanding of the challenges facing local governments and will be able to effectively advocate for our local communities.

Our representatives must have great, progressive ideas. But that’s not enough, they must also have the ability to work effectively with fellow legislators to get things done. Seph is known for his ability to tackle tough challenges by working with others. This is why his numerous endorsements from across the district include 20 current and former Common Council members in Ithaca and Cortland. It is also why so many of his constituents admire and trust him. Seph’s experience working in Assemblywoman Lifton’s office the past five years will enable him to hit the ground running on day one. I know he will work tirelessly for the 125th district, always keeping his constituents’ needs front and center. I hope you’ll join me in voting for Seph Murtagh by absentee ballot or in-person voting this June!
