The Congressional election of 2006 will be a watershed. It is time to say no to an administration that has undertaken ill-conceived and ill-planned foreign adventures (at a cost in Iraq of nearly 3000 American lives and over 330 billion of your tax dollars), given tax cuts to the wealthy while it raises the national debt to record levels, favored the oil companies yet failed miserably to encourage alternative energy, and failed to tackle global warming or preserve the environment for our children.
The 24th Congressional district is one of the pivotal races. This is our chance to change the balance in Congress so that the Bush administration can no longer have a free reign to denigrate the nation and the lives of its hard working citizens. To that end, we have an excellent candidate in Michael Arcuri. Arcuri believes that we need to restore the pay-as-you-go rule in Congress, especially at a time when we cannot balance the budget, so that tax cuts are aimed at the working middle class and not the wealthiest Americans.
He opposes tax credits to big oil companies, and instead champions the development of alternative sources of energy. He supports stem cell research and opposes any unreasonable attempts to restrict this research and deny hope to those suffering life threatening and debilitating diseases. We need Michael Arcuri in Congress!
