Click-to-donate websites are sites that generate money for charity by showing advertisements once you click on a button on their site. It's often not much money, but its real power lies in the opportunity for anyone to donate for free! The numbers add up fast once a few hundred people start clicking; there's already places like The Hunger Site that donated over 52 million cups of staple food last year alone. Check snopes.com, the urban legend-checking site, too - they say that The Hunger Site and a couple others are legitimate, and that was in December of 2002! There are bound to be more since then!
For more information, including a fantastic list of such sites, and sites that group the different charities together for easy acces, check out Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Click_to_donate. Other great sites are thehungersite.com and its affiliates, freedonation.com, and multiple-sites-in-one-click tools wiseup.org/donate and dailycharity.cjb.net.These sites are truly great ideas, and real uses of the Internet for good causes!
