ImageI will be voting YES to the proposal to make the Lansing Community Library Center a school district library.

LCLC provides much more than access to books. Recent additions and renovations to LCLC have also allowed for an expansion of services and programs, making the library even more community-friendly. Because of improved accessibility, LCLC now has programs for all ages plus meeting rooms for regular and special events.

With the upcoming vote to make LCLC a school district library, it is reasonable to wonder about the future costs, but consider the benefits as well as expenses in making your decision. A YES vote would mean a very small increase in yearly taxes – about the cost of one new book per family. And for that small cost, taxpayers gain a librarian, more operating hours, and influence in operations via an elected Board of Trustees. In the few years since LCLC has opened, many residents have found a stronger sense of community through the life of the library. Great benefits, low cost: wouldn’t you agree?

LCLC is a marvelous, debt-free resource for the whole community, your YES vote on May 15 will help secure the future of LCLC.
