The intersection of East Shore and Ridge Road is, for all intents and purposes, our town square. Yet it is a ragtag collection of shops, the long-empty Sure-Save and, of course, the Rogues Harobor Inn. Building up this area is an opportunity that just isn't happening. Why not?
While it may not have been the greatest market in our area, it sure was convenient to have the Sure-Save in Lansing. If you were in the middle of making cookies and ran out of sugar you could get there and back without extending your baking into a 45 minute adventure in mall traffic. Someone should develop this area and create a real town square -- something attractive enough that it would attract all town residents and maybe some tourists.
