I am aghast that the Lansing Town Board did not use discretion in allowing the bench to be placed in the park. It is an embarrassment to our community. I no longer can go to my favorite place of solace after enjoying the park since I moved here in 1983 (I was pregnant with Nasreen).
Although the bench is obscure in the picture, I am offering you to replace the one with the bench in support of having it relocated. A more appropriate place would be the infamous U C point where the drinking parties take place.
I mean no disrespect to the Uhl family. It would be a greater service to all if we could put our energy into getting our state legislators to enact and reinforce boating legislation to mandate boat insurance and inspection, not to mention monitoring drinking and driving on our Finger Lakes. I have spoken with Senator Mike Nozzolio numerous times on this matter to no avail. Perhaps the recent death of Sheriff Kevin Walsh on Skaneateles Lake will catapult action.

I have attached a picture in which I edited out the memorial bench to Harry Uhl. I have asked the Lansing Town Hall to have the bench relocated. The circumstances of the accident that killed Harry and permanently disfigured and disabled my daughter's right are are reprehensible. I am not condoning my daughters actions, but he was 29 years old and had no business with my 18 year-old daughter and her friend on his boat. It was proved his rear light did not work and was not sea worthy. I have the autopsy report of his blood alcohol at 11%.
