Pam Bleiwas Understands It Takes A Village!!

Imagine holding five sticks of butter in the palm of your hand . . . that is equal to the birth weight of my daughter, Annika. Her twin brother, Linus, weighed in at a hefty two pounds, one ounce. My children were born three months premature; they were not much bigger than the beanie babies that kept them company in their isolettes.

Annika and Linus are now fourteen years old. Over time, the many doctors and medical treatments have been replaced by an extraordinary support team of early intervention therapists, teachers, family members, caregivers, and peers. I am overwhelmed at the progress my children have made; I attribute their amazing strides to this incredible support system. It has taken a village to raise these active, smart, and resilient 8th graders at Dewitt Middle School. Their passions include karate, skiing, swimming, soccer, drama, girl scouts, cello, and reading. They are both strong self-advocates in a community of supportive and caring individuals.

Pam Bleiwas believes in our mutual possibilities and looks forward to working and advancing the interests of all our community--it is about responsibility and a willingness to work with all. This also involves the perceptions and realities of entitlement, prejudice, discrimination and stigma that is often associated with many of our programs by some in the community. These hurdles need to be removed and replaced with an expectation of acceptance and equality in all interactions within Tomkins County for all residents--regardless of ability, race, economic status, or educational level.

Pam believes in fairness and equity as a provision to all equally. She doesn't believe that we should have programs for special interest groups or a special targeted community. We should rather create programs that provide desired services to all. We need to create and maintain programs where all can strive to be better.

I did not know any of the judicial candidates before this election, but after doing some research it is clear to me that Pamela Bleiwas has the most experience and is the best choice for Tompkins County Court Judge. Please join me in voting for Pam in the Democratic Primary on September 10, 2013.

Sincerely,
