Daly inherits a men's lacrosse program fresh off of their best season in team history. Racking up a team-record four victories, the Express picked up their first conference victory dating back to the 2012 season and set several team offensive and defensive records. Heading into their ninth year as a varsity program, the squad will play on an artificial turf field that will debut before the spring 2016 semester.
"It is with great pleasure to introduce Andrew Daly as the new Head Coach of men's lacrosse at Wells College," said Lindberg. "Our student-athletes will benefit greatly from the experience, integrity, and level of professionalism Coach Daly brings to our program. His ability to coach game skills and teach life skills will provide our student-athletes with the tools needed to compete on and off the field at a high level."
"I am really excited to be at Wells College and would like to thank [Provost] Dr. Cindy Speaker, Michael Lindberg and the search committee," remarked Daly. "From when I first arrived on campus, I knew that this was going to be an ideal fit for me. I am excited to build upon the program's success and continue to provide an outstanding student-athlete experience.
"I am eager to spread the word about the men's lacrosse program at Wells and attract quality student-athletes to our beautiful campus. I am confident that prospective students will share my appreciation of the campus, its strong academic reputation and rich history," concluded Daly.
Daly served as the Assistant Coach for SUNY Oneonta for four seasons. Assisting all facets of the program, Daly coached several SUNYAC All-Conference players during his tenure while serving as the team's offensive coordinator and extra-man offensive coach. In addition, Daly provided instruction and training to goalies and face-off specialists and managed the team's off-season workout regimen.
Across his tenure, his squad went from a seventh place finish in the SUNYAC to third place as recently as this past season. Reaching the conference playoffs in three of the previous four years, Daly and the Red Dragons secured several key victories over nationally-ranked opponents from Rensselaer and Nazareth.
Off the field, Daly served as his team's Academic Advisor and assisted with course scheduling and other academic issues while managing his team's study halls. From a recruiting standpoint, Daly helped to recruit 45 enrolled student-athletes across the prior two seasons after becoming the primary recruiting coordinator. Daly was also heavily involved in the planning and execution of team fundraising efforts, organizing the squad's spring trips.
In addition to his responsibilities with the men's lacrosse team at SUNY Oneonta, Daly served as the Assistant Residence Hall Director and assisted with the operation of a 450 resident, co-ed residence hall. He selected, trained and supervised 21 resident advisors, 15 night hosts and five office assistants.
Outside of his work with SUNY Oneonta, Daly has served as the Head Coach at the Top 205 recruiting camp, helping to review and assess player while drafting potential prospects. Additionally, Daly has assisted with the Fairfield University fall recruiting tournament and served as the Head Coach of the Island Uprising and the World Class Lacrosse Camps.
A four-year starter at Wagner College from 2005-08, Daly made 53 appearances for the men's lacrosse team across his four-year career. Scoring 23 goals for the Seahawks, Daly added 10 assists for 33 total points (23-10=33) while chipping in with 39 ground balls. He was also selected as the Fitness Lifestyles Student-Athlete of the Month in February 2007.
