The Bobcats were hoping for a repeat win against Watkins Glen, but Watkins prevailed with a victory on Lansing's court. The Bobcats showed moments of quality ball movement, shooting, and defense, but WG was able to keep the game in hand. The scoring breakdown had the teams tied at the end of the 1st quarter, but Watkins crept ahead by 3 at the end of the 1st half. Lansing was able to erase that, and gain a 1 point lead by the end of the 3rd quarter. That lead slipped away in the last frame, however, as the Senecas outscored the Bobcats for a final score of 39-31.
Karsten Zuidema led all Lansing scorers with 10 points, with Tanner Winslow adding 9 points, and Luke Winslow chipping in 8 points.
Against the Trumansburg Blue Raiders, Lansing's game plan was similar to the last time the teams had met over the holiday break, trying to contain Trumansburg's lead scorer. The game had an early indication of a Raider home court blowout, but the Bobcats battled and kept it close.
At the end of the 1st quarter, Trumansburg had built a 15-6 lead. In the 2nd frame, Lansing's defense held the Raiders to only 6 points, and added some balanced scoring on offense, to result in a Trumansburg 21-18 advantage at the half.
A Trumansburg zone kept the Bobcats offense out on the perimeter, but lots of ball movement allowed the Bobcats to tie the game mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Trumansburg went on a run to end that quarter with a 34-27 lead, then sunk a 3 pointer at the start of the 4th to build a 10 point lead. Eric Eastman had 7 of his 9 points in the final quarter, helping Lansing fight back to within 3 points with only 1:20 left, but Trumansburg came out on top 48-43.
The Bobcat scoring was led by Karsten Zuidema with 12 points and Tanner Winslow with 10 points.
The Bobcats face Groton at home on Thursday Jan 12th, and travel to Southern Cayuga on Friday Jan 13th.
