What does the running game do to the clock in football? Keeps it running. The scoreless first quarter ended quickly with the home team Watkins Glen/Odessa Montour threatening inside the Lansing ten. Three consecutive defensive stops by combinations of Garrett Bell/Brad Lehr then Luke Winslow / Mike Lapar followed by a stop by Joe Miller-Labar and Alex Powers. The second quarter began with a 4th and Goal for WG/OM at the Lansing six yard line. Four seconds later the Senecas led 8-0 after the successful conversion.

Just 18 second later, however, Lansing tallied their initial score with a first play 48 yard run by Miller-Labar through the right side. A Garret Bell PAT kick made it 8-7. Co-Head Coaches Miles Levesque and Brett Hotchkiss liked the last offensive play so much they ran it again on their next possession. Result. Another deep hand off to Miller-Labar from the I-formation through the right side of the line. Two missed tackles later Lansing had the lead with the 60 yard TD run. Bells' PAT kick increased the lead to six. The WG/OM double wing veer offense had consecutive drives to the Lansing 25 yard line but defensive end Mike Lapar had a sack and then hurried a QB pass to assist an end zone interception for Luke Winslow just before halftime.

With the first possession of the second half and facing 3rd and 14 the Bobcats lined up with trips right and Bell took the shotgun snap and hit Miller-Labar down the left sideline at the Senecas 30 perfectly in stride for a 57 yard touchdown pass. Bell added point after kick for the 21-8 lead. A later five play 56 yard drive was capped by an 18 yard TD run by Miller-Labar behind the left line of Nelson, Kade Bennett and Lapar. With a 27-8 lead heading into the final quarter the WG/OM needed a big comeback. Those hopes were dashed when the swarming tackle of Lapar, Nelson and Fleming ripped the ball loose from the Senecas runner allowing Winslow to nab the fumble in stride and take it 70 yards for the score. The game ended with a Lansing 34-14 win.

Statistically for Lansing QB Bell was 6 x 10 for 82 yards, 1TD. Rushing had Miller-Labar 12 carries x 192 yards, 3TD; Winslow 6 x 12; Fleming 3 x 9. Defensively Nelson and Fleming had over 20 tackles each with Miller-Labar and Kyle Nickerson close behind.

The Bobcats travel to Oneonta Friday 10/20. At 4-1 in the division and 5-2 overall, Lansing is currently one game up on Oneonta. These two will most likely face each other in the first round of the Divisional playoffs.
