Nominated by and plaque presented by two-time NY State Champion, Coach Stuart Dean

Tom Neubert was a 5 time letter winner for Lansing, earning three in football and two in baseball. Nuebert helped Lansing to a three year record of 21-5-1 on the gridiron and a 61-14 record on the baseball diamond.

In football, Neubert was a two-time 1st Team IAC All-Star, while guiding Lansing to an IAC Division title his senior year.

He started every game as a junior at center and defensive tackle. He anchored a line that featured a 1,000 yard rusher, Hall of Famer Brian LaLonde. As a senior, he started every game at center and nose guard. That offense featured another 1,000 yard rusher, Hall of Famer Dennis "Bubby" Eade.

Neubert finished his career with 41 unassisted tackles, 50 assisted tackles, 4 sacks and 4 fumble recoveries.

Neubert captained the Bobcats as a senior. He played in the Exceptional Seniors game, the Ernie Davis Classic, played annually on Thanksgiving Day.

Hall of Fame coach Ed Redmond said, "Tom was a coach on the football field. He was a leader on the offensive line, as he would often instruct the entire line on where to go and who to block".

Redmond added, "On the baseball diamond, he was very versatile, playing multiple positions. He was a fierce competitor with an inner desire to succeed".

In baseball, Neubert was a career .426 hitter. That ranks him 8th on the all-time career batting average list. In 49 games, he scored 66 runs and slugged 63 base hits, while driving in 52 runs. As a senior, Tom went 38 for 81, hitting an impressive .469. His 7 triples and 6 home runs as a senior, still rank as single season records.

On the mound, Neubert was equally impressive. He had a 5-0 record with a career Earned Run Average of 2.39. He struck out 49 batters in 38 innings, while compiling a WHIP of .98.

WHIP is a statistic that adds together walks and hits given up by a pitcher, then divided by the pitcher's total innings pitched. A WHIP under 1.00 is outstanding. Tom's was .98.

Cornell University Baseball Coach Tom Ford, was Tom's JV basketball coach and varsity football coach. Ford said, "Tom was a tough competitor and had a great work ethic. He certainly worked hard to make himself and his teams successful" "Tom was the kind of athlete who felt it was more important for the team to have success and wasn't worried about personal accolades. He was very coachable". Ford said, "Tom never backed down from a challenge. He had a strong will about him – something that has served him well as he developed into a successful coach, husband and father".

Following his graduation, he earned three letters at Cortland State playing baseball for the Red Dragons.

His career pitching record at Cortland State was 14-1 and at the time of his graduation that ranked him number one in career wins.

Neubert was selected as the ECAC Pitcher of the Year as a junior as well as a 1st Team SUNYAC All Conference selection. As a senior, Tom was named to the 1st Team All-ECAC squad and a repeat 1st team SUNYAC All Conference selection.

Tom moved from playing to coaching and in 16 seasons, he has a head baseball coaching record of 381-221.

He has won 13 Sectional titles, 6 District titles, 3 Regional Championships and two Ohio State Baseball Championships, winning in 2011 and again in 2012.

In 2008, he was selected as the Central District Coach of the Year.

In 2012, he was named the National Federation Section-2 Coach of the Year and the National Federation State of Ohio Coach of the Year.

Also in 2012, Neubert was named the Baseball Coaches Association Upper Midwest Coach of the Year and the Ohio State Coach of the year.

In 2016 he was selected as the Columbus Metro Coach of the Year.

On November 2nd of this year, Tom was inducted into Ohio's Central District Hall of Fame.

Neubert is currently serving as the President of the Ohio State Baseball Coaches Association.

I asked Tom if he had any special memories of his playing days in Lansing. His response was, "I am certainly blessed to have played sports at Lansing High School and have a tremendous amount of pride towards my alma mater.

I cannot think of anything specific that stands out. Maybe too many concussions, but I owe a lot of my life successes to my coaches Ed Redmond and Stu Dean, and of course my parents"

He added, "Thanks again for this tremendous honor! I am excited to come back home to celebrate with friends and family. It is even more special, being inducted with Adam Heck. He was truly a great man".

Tom is the Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at St. Francis DeSales in Columbus, Ohio.

He lives with his wife, Jessica and two children, Taylor and Ty, in Westerville, Ohio.
