ImageThe Lansing Football team defeated Trumansburg 13-0 on Friday, and with the win the Bobcats claimed the Section IV Division VI Title, and a trip to the Section IV Class C playoffs.  The Bobcats took the opening kick-off and marched 67 yards on 15 plays culminated by a Trevor Countryman 6 yard touchdown run, the point after kick by Rusty Landon made the score 7-0, which completed the scoring for the first half.

Once again it was the defense that was the story of the game as they kept a high scoring Trumansburg offense out of the end zone the entire game for their fourth straight shutout. The Cats limited Trumansburg to 42 total yards including just 3 yards rushing on 23 attempts, while forcing 5 turnovers, an interception and fumble recovery by Vincent Redmond, an interception by Curtis Fenner and 2 fumble recoveries by Andrew Lockwood highlighted the defensive effort.

Trumansburg received the second half kickoff and the Bobcats forced a punt after 3 downs.  The Cats needed just 7 plays to cover the 46 yard drive ending with a Trevor Countryman 8 yard run, the point after kick was blocked making the final score 13-0.  It was a total team effort particularly defensively that spearheaded this victory.

The front 8 defenders lead by Adam Nedrow, Charlie Hatfield, Andrew Lockwood, Ryan Shaff, Ryan Earl, Trevor Countryman, Rusty Landon, and the leader of the defense Kyle Christopher were outstanding the entire night. While the yards came tough against a stout Trumansburg defense, Trevor Countryman led the way with 113 yards and 2 touchdowns on 28 carries, and Adam Nedrow pitched in with 50 yards on just 4 carries.

A special thanks to all those who came out to support the Bobcats on this evening, making it a night to remember for 25 hardworking student athletes who represent the Lansing Football program, their school and the community.
