The Ithaca Shooting Stars 16U and 19U girls ice hockey teams traveled to Connecticut Dec. 27-29 to participate in the 22nd Annual CT Polar Bears Holiday Tournament.  There were 220 teams from the United States and Canada playing in five age levels and 14 divisions at 13 different ice rinks.  The 19Us went 0-4 in the 19U B division while the 16Us finished 2-2 at the 17U B level.
 
The 19U Shooting Stars opened with a 5-1 loss to the Southern Flyers of Tennesee with goalie Chelsea Meyer making 40 saves and Amanda Menichelli scoring from an assist from Samantha Craig.  They fell to the Quaker Girls of Pennsylvania 4-1 with Craig scoring and Kelsey Callahan stopping 25 shots.  She made about 30 saves in a 2-0 loss to Assabet Valley of Massachusetts.  Meyer made close to 50 saves in their final game against Berwick Academy of New Hampshire.  The team is coached by Rob Ralyea.

Ithaca's 16U team outshot three of its four opponents yet finished with two wins and two losses.  They defeated the Raleigh Storm of North Carolina, 2-0 on goals by Katie Long and Whitney Colbert who were assisted by Lauren Cole and Kaitlin MacLean, and the Rhode Island Panthers 6-0.  Janesa Cornish had a hat trick in this victory assisted by Cole and Nitsan Goldstein.  Colleen Dillon, Long and Cole also scored. 

They were defeated 1-0 by the Long Island Waves and 4-1 by the eventual division champion Harlem Valley Lightning from the Millbrook, NY area. Against Harlem Valley, Long scored assisted by Erin Grainger and Colbert.  Annabelle Jones and Sarah Eisenhut split goaltending in each game including sharing the two shutouts. Tony Eisenhut and Karen Cole coach this team.
