Varsity Boys Swimming & Diving Team
"On behalf of all the student athletes and coaches I'd like to thank our school administrators, our Board Of Education, our buildings and grounds department, our transportation department, all the fans and all the parents for your support this winter," said Athletic Director Ed Redmond. "It was an outstanding season."
Athletic Director Ed Redmond
The gym was filled with cheers as Redmond and the coaches honored the Booster Club, Varsity Boys Swimming & Diving, JV Cheerleading, Varsity Cheerleading, JV Girls Basketball, Varsity Girls Basketball, JV Boys Basketball, Varsity Boys Basketball, Varsity Girls and Boys Indoor Track, Varsity Girls and Boys Bowling, and the Varsity Wrestling Team.
Redmond encouraged the athletes to continue striving for excellence. "This year as an athletic program we finished fourth this year overall in sportsmanship in the IAC. We slipped two notches from the fall so we need to improve on that for the spring. I'm hoping that perhaps in the spring we can bring home the Sportsmanship Award."

The trio of Jon Glennon, Curtis Fenner, and Kyle Dake participated in the NYSPHSAA State Wrestling Tournament conducted March 2nd and 3rd in Albany at the Times Union Arena. Fenner, a senior, qualified for his first State tournament as at large bid after placing second in the section IV state qualifier at 145 pounds. Curtis went 2-2 on the tournament, needing just one more win to place. Kyle Dake Freshman Jon Glennon also qualified as an at large participant placing third in the section IV tournament. Wrestling 140 pounds, Glennon had a great tournament winning his first 2 matches before losing to eventual state champion Dave Perrrigo of Govenour. Glennon came back after the loss and placed 4th ahead of section IV 140# champion Justin Wolcott of Waverly. Sophmore Kyle Dake competed in his second consecutive State Tournament and accomplished what no Lansing Wrestler had ever done. He went undefeated, 43-0, gave up only 2 points in 2 separate matches, and was Crowned NYSPHSAA 112 pound State Champion. After pinning Mike Gomez of Locust Valley in the final, the NYS sectional wrestling chairman voted Kyle the Division 2 Most Outstanding Wrestler. This performance netted Lansing a 8th place finish as a team in the State Tournament. Jake Sangren was All-America Consideration (AAC) in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 53.22, they hit AAA time a week later in Boston, swimming a 52 mid. AA indicates they are in the top in the USA.
