In the Semi-final at Lansing the boys played rival Dryden. Again, Dryden was a familiar opponent as they had played to a 1-1 tie and Lansing won round two 1-0 this game would be no different as Ryan Mallinson scored
with 13 minutes left to give the Bobcats a 1-0 win. The end would come with some drama as Lansing was hold in a 1-0 lead with under 2 minutes left, and Dryden put a header on goal and it looked as though the game would be tied. But Tim McGiff came out of the back line to head the ball out of the goal.
It was a game saving play. The first half Dryden had any chances to go up in the contest but Michael Bradford(Lansing's Sophomore Keeper) was up to the task. The second half Lansing outplayed Dryden from end to end and hit the post early in the half only to see the rebound go over the goal on a put back.
The story of the game was defense. Lansing defenders Tim McGiff and Dan Hranek locked up Dryden's top offensive players to hold the shut-out I n the Sectional Finals Lansing played Susquehanna Valley, a team who was the #1 seed and had not lost to a B school all year. Lansing Struck in the first half on a rebound where Ryan Mallinson tucked it home- but 3 minutes into the second half S. Valley answered with a goal (only the 7th goal Lansing has given up all year). But the boys responded and Eric Rasmussen knocked home the eventual game winner with just under 20 minutes left on a crossing ball from Nick Mallinson. Mallinson assisted on the 3rd goal for Lansing which was the knockout punch as Dan Ravas one-timed the services into the goal. Again the bobcats were section IV champs 3rd championship in 4 years and look forward to states.
The boys are #4 in New York State and play Hastings out of the New York City Area on Wednesday the 7th of November in the first round of the State Tournament.
