ImageTeamwork clicked for Lansing varsity volleyball in Monday's 3-2 IAC match against Watkins Glen. Desi Burke's tough serves and nimble assists helped the Bobcats win the first game 25-18, setting up her match total of eleven assists and three service aces. After a sluggish Lansing start in game 2, the lead vacillated in two tightly battled games. The home team was buoyed by a tribe of vociferous Seneca braves, and Watkins edged out Lansing 26-24, 26-24.

Lansing dominated the must-win fourth game, closing it out 25-21 despite a half dozen consecutive errors. Junior Tory Cutting drilled spikes past her opponents, posting a match-high 13 kills. Brooke Burke played solid defense and aggressive offensive, with a smorgasbord of 9 kills, 6 digs, 2 services aces, 2 blocks, and an assist in the match. However, Watkins Glen was tenacious at keeping balls in play, and a spread of 1 to 3 points predominated in the nail-biting last game until Lansing finally pulled ahead to finish 25-20.

Lansing's well-distributed stats reveal the night's team effort. At the net, the Bobcats had 11 team blocks, including 4 by sophomore Tara Miller. Taylor Bandler racked up 15 assists, Kristen Beyea 8 kills, Nicolo Gentile 8 digs, and Kari Fenner 4 kills. Ashley Schuster's versatile offense combined 8 assists, 7 kills, as well as 4 ace serves.
