Junior George Wigsten
For senior Tim Shea, this was the perfect finish to his 3 year career in cross country. He ran one of his best times of the season (19:04) and placed third for the team and helping the Bobcats to capture 4th place, breaking a tie with Trumansburg for the second time. Our sixth runner, George Wigsten, pulled through and edged out T-burg's 6th man which helped the Bobcats win 4th.

Tim Shea with a strong finish - the last of his high school XC career
Tim Shea has been a leader and strong competitor all season. Known for his knee high socks, Shea has improved greatly from the 2007 season where his PR was 19:40. This season he had a PR of 18:20, which he would attribute to the socks and Wilson Hill workouts. He always pushed himself in practice and always wanted to improve. Although he does not plan to run next year when he attends Clarkson, he would like to continue running on his own.

Josh Barber (right) for Lansing - places 6th and advances to the state meet
For the girls, Shanna Swanson and Neila Thomas both ran well in a field of 40 other runners at the section meet. Swanson ran 22:18, which was an improvement from the previous two meets. Thomas finished her season with a strong performance (26:33) and plans to continue to improve her endurance and speed during indoor and outdoor track. The team is pleased to have her join us this year as she switched from volleyball to pursue cross country for the first time.
Both Cleveland and Barber will be traveling to Sunken Meadows State Park on Long Island for the state meet on November 8. This will be Barber's second time attending the state meet for cross country.
As the season comes to a close, I would like to thank the parents and spectators who helped support the team throughout the season. A special thank you goes out to Bruce Barber who provided us and the Lansing Star with all of the action packed photos throughout the season.
