Working at practice on some things and getting more used to each other these girls say they are ready for the next day. Knowing that the scores were low the day before these girls start the first game with a 909 and find themselves in 4th place out of the ten teams competing for the State Crown. Rolling a 928 in the second game and staying in 4th and striking distance they were set up to finish the first round off and do so with a fine 1031 and move into 2nd place.
As the second round starts and the girls are seated in the center of the house they roll a 958 and move into first place. Now the challenge is to maintain this pace and provide a cushion. Rolling a 998 against our opponent and expanding the lead over them not knowing that another team had moved into second place we knew we had to finish strong. These girls put together a 966 last game to win the State Crown by 165 pins and help set a State record by both section teams winning a State Title in the same year something that has never been done before.
Kristi was 12th overall out of the 60 girls that rolled on Sunday she was the team leader in the afternoon squad with 608 series. She finished up third high on her team as the day was a total team effort to win this Championship. As the way this event works all six girls bowl and then you drop the low score to get the total pins per game. Kristi and two of her team mates were three girls that all six of there games counted towards the total pins recorded, and every girl on this team had at least one of there games count for the total pin fall. When all was said and done it was a wonderful day and these girls even out scored the UE girls from the day before as these girls rolled the best six game series of the State Championships.
This was a wonderful way for Kristi to finish her high school career and go out as a State Champion as a representative of the Lansing High School Team and a member of the IAC.
