ImageLansing bowler Joel Teitelbaum's team came home with a silver medal and a $600 team scholarship last Saturday when they won second place in the New York State USBC Youth 40th Anniversary Team Championship Tournament.  Teitelbaum, who also bowls on Lansing's Varsity Bowling team,  bowled a 480 scratch.

The Ithaca Ditch Drivers took second place with a total score of 3001, second only to the Hudson Valley Showtime team.  They competed against teams from Buffalo, Syracuse, Hornell, Long Island, Tonawanda, Troy, Staten Island, Genesee, Mohawk Valley, Glens Falls, Northern Adiron, Moira, and Catskill Mountains.

The tournament was held May second at AMF Strike n' Spare bowling lanes in Syracuse.  The team copmpeted in qualifying matches at Doug Kent's Rose Bowl in Newark,NY.  Over 15,000
bowlers from 10 regions around New York State competed.  70 four-member teams qualified for finals.

Each team bowled three games. The Ditch Drivers bowled 1014 in the first game, 982 in the second, and 1005 in the third.  That took them to second place out of 20 teams competing in Division A.

The Ditch Drivers are based at Patel's Bowl-o-Drome in Ithaca.
