Both Lansing and Ithaca swimmers have qualified for the State competition after Lansing competed in the 3 Class Sectionals for Girls Swimming and Diving. Coach Diane Hicks-Hughes says there is an interesting twist to this year's competition. "In the Class A Meet the Norberg identical twins got the identical state qualifying time in the 100 Breast stroke," she says. "They both tied for 1st place. This is my 25th year coaching girls' swimming and diving and this is a first for our State."

Two Lansing divers qualified in Class C. Kiki Gifft made third place with a score of 279.05, and Danyelle Barron made eigth with 245.05.

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay KC Hatfield, Becky Mapes, Claire Eckstrom and Rachel Bland finished second, making 2:07.48 in the preliminaries and 2:00.84 in the finals.
Nikki Dean finished first in the 200 Yard Freestyle in 1:59.63 in the prelims and 2:02.08 in the finals. Hannah Wingate was second at 2:04.93 and 2:04.31. Kendal Dean finished in seventh place with 2:17.73 and 2:16.34 times.

Claire Eckstrom finished in first place in the 200 Yard IM with 2:20.66 in the preliminaries, and, shaving two seconds off her time finished the finals in 2:18.65. KC Hatfield came in sixth at 2:37.67 and 2:36.35. Becky Mapes finished seventh at 2:32.17 and 2:36.46.

Lansing swimmers took first and second place in the finals when Caitlin Wright finished in 25.31 in the prelims and 25.32 in the finals. Kali Dean was close behind at 25.80 and 25.45.

In One Meter Diving Kiki Gifft was #3 and Kristin Carlson took fourth place.

Claire Eckstrom took third place for Lansing in the 100 Yard butterfly, finishing in 1:04.57 (prelims) and 1:04.54 (finals). Caitlin Wright finished the 100 Yard Freestyle in second place (56.56 and 56.04)while Kali Dean finished fourth (56.68 and 57.40).

In the 500 Yard Freestyle Nikki Dean took another first in 5:42.93 and 5:32.27. Hannah Wingate was nearly as fast, taking second in (5:40.13 and 5:42.87).

Tha Lansing Varsity "A" Team took first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay when Claire Eckstrom, Caitlin Wright, Nikki Dean and Kali Dean finished the preliminaries in 1:42.00 and the finals in 1:42.33.

KC Hatfield placed eigth in the 100 Yard Backstroke with 1:10.66 and 1:09.94. Becky Mapes (second place at 1:14.62 and 1:14.62) Leigh Conley (eight place at 1:21.29 and 1:22.91) both scored in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
