ImageThe Lansing Girls Basketball team captured their second consecutive IAC Championship as they defeated Watkins Glen 51-35 at TC3 last Friday.  Great team defense, balanced scoring and solid senior leadership were the keys to the Ladycats success on this night.

Jocelyn Ford led the way with 12 points, however 7 other players factored into the scoring, including 7 points each for seniors MC Barrett, Ellyn Grant-Keane and Stephanie Gonyea. Nina Lindberg and Carlene Fields added 5 points each, while Colby McCartney and Shanna Shaff chipped in with 4 points each. MC Barrett and Jocelyn Ford played outstanding defense on Taylor Chaffee throughout the night, holding Watkins Glen's leading scoring to 7 points under her average.

Stephanie Gonyea was huge on the boards as she had a team high 11 rebounds, while Ellyn Grant-Keane led the team in assists with 6 and steals with 5. The Ladycats season continues with a Section IV Class B quarter final game at home on Saturday against Norwich at 5:00.

I.A.C. ALL-STARS

Jocelyn Ford was selected as the I.A.C. North Large Division MVP by league coaches. Jocelyn leads the team in scoring, averaging 19 points per game , and in rebounds with 7 per game. MC Barrett and Ellyn Grant-Keane were selected North Large Division First team All-Stars. MC is second on the team in scoring, averaging 10 points per game and in rebounds with 6.5 per game, while Ellyn is first on the team in assists, averaging 6 per game and steals averaging 7 per game, and third on the team in scoring averaging 8 points per game.

Stephanie Gonyea was selected to the North Large Division Second Team All-Stars, she is third on the team in rebounding, averaging 5 per game and forth on the team in scoring averaging 6 points per game.
