ImageThe Ithaca 14U and 19U Shooting Stars girls hockey teams competed at their respective New York State Amateur Hockey Association (NYSAHA) Tier 2 state tournaments in Saranac Lake and Ogdensburg, March 12-14. They were the top seeded teams from Central Section.
 
The 19Us advanced to the semi-finals after going 2-0-1 in the preliminary round with 5-0 wins over the Buffalo Regals and Hamburg Hawks and a 1-1 tie with the eventual state champion Perinton Edge. Their only loss was 0-3 in their semi-final game vs. the Mohawk Valley Comets.

Against the Regals and Hawks, Sarah Eisenhut recorded shutout wins in goal while eleven different players scored goals and assists. In the Regals game, Carrie Wilder scored assisted by Bridget Derraugh, and she assisted Alyson Pace. Defenders Lauren Herrick and Shaina Joffe scored assisted by Lauren Cole and Katie Long.  Gabrielle Klick scored with an assist by Emma Hassen. Against Hamburg, Wilder had two goals assisted by Erin Grainger, Derraugh and Pace. Cole also scored twice assisted by Emily Eisenhut, Joffe, Grainger, and Long; and Joffe scored once unassisted.
 
When the 19Us tied the Perinton Edge, 1-1. Eisenhut stopped 16 shots.  Joffe scored the game-tying goal from Pace.  In the loss to the Comets, Ithaca outshot the victors by a 3 to 1 margin but were not able to score. Other team members are Hannah Golay, Samantha Craig and Krystalyn Yonkin. Coaches include Tony Eisenhut, Dave Herrick, Ron Wilder, John Golay and Warren Klick.
 
The 14Us lost their three preliminary games including a 0-5 loss to the eventual champions, Niagara Junior Purple Eagles with Caitlin Whittaker stopping 30 shots. They were also shutout by Troy Albany Ice Cats, 0-2 and by the Saranac Lake Red Storm, 0-1.  Other team members include Aiya Taylor, Anna Kirkwood, Clara Karastury, Rachel Brock, Zoe Seznec Sweetland, Marlena Doerr, Camille Rogers, Jacy Hollander, Grace Ulinski, Risa Ulinski, and Zsofi Szegletes. Coaches are Joel Brock, Peter Dugan, Ed Pasto and Beth Pasto.
