ImageThe Lansing Varsity Softball Team defeated rival Groton 8-1.  The team is already far ahead of last year's teams in wins.  The Lady Cats composure remains intact heading down the season stretch.

"It was another game of overwhelming progress," says Coach Randy Randall. "Nina Lindberg sprouted wings last night with her amazing range at shortstop.  She was on fire batting 4x4 with three RBIs."

Randall says the game was another great team effort for the girls.  With ace pitcher Nikki Arcangeli out due to a wrist injury, the focus was on back-up pitcher sophomore Amber Howser and sophomore Kayla Green, who chose to move up onto the Varsity team the same day on Randalls' offering.

When Randall found out the extent of Arcangeli's injury, a decision by all to slide Green up for the rest of the season turned out to be a wise one.

Howser and Green combined a complete game 4 hitter with seven strike outs to shut the Indians down.

"I couldn't be more proud of this bunch," Randall says.  "I couldn't have asked for any more from those two young pitchers, and to think the battery that we are putting together here will be amazing!"
