Lansing's Boys Varsity basketball team has been gearing up for the start of the season with a game scheduled for tonight (12/02) against Trumansburg. "This should be a high energy game for both clubs," says Coach Adam Heck. "Both Lansing and Trumansburg were in the Junior Varsity championship last year so I think both groups have some good young talent."
Lansing has 6 players returning from last year's team: tri-captains Treyson Barresi, Chris Rubens, P.J. Bishop are seniors, and Juniors Ryan Shaff, Adam Nedrow and Chris Reukauf are also returning. Newcomers are Trevor Wolf, Shawn Mix, Andy Reukauf, Sam Burns, Ryan Earl, John Sluty, Teagan Barresi and Henry Stevens.
Steve Sluty and Mike Kubera will be assistant coaches with Jack Stevens acting as manager and Luke Kutler providing video. The season runs through the end of February with sectionals, finals and the State Championship going through March 17.
"I think we have a chance to improve from last year," says Coach Heck. "We have better size and more depth from our bench. The question will be, when the younger guys are ready to perform at a varsity level? "
