Lansing Varsity Baseball captured the Class C State Championship Saturday at Johnson City High School defeating Haldane by a score of 5 to 3. It is the first state championship for any Lansing boys sports team and the second state championship for Coach Stuart Dean (the girls basketball team won the State Championship in 2001).
The game was covered by 1160 ESPN radio. A recording of the broadcast is on their website at 1160espn.com.
'It was an amazing night. Congrats to the boys and coaches," says Athletic Director Adam Heck. "Thanks to the community and parents for supporting the team this season. There is nothing better then what I witnessed Saturday! It is something that I wish more of our kids could experience. A group of boys who have played together for a long time, with a common goal, come together and win the ultimate prize A STATE TITLE!!! They will have this experience the rest of their lives."
