A strong effort was delivered by the entire Bobcat team with notable contributions from Co-Captians Kelsey Thomas with 5 Aces and 6 Kills; and Hannah Armstrong with 5 Aces, 2 Kills, and 2 Assists; along with Senior Shalyn Watson with 10 Assists; Junior Kaleigh Hotchkins with 5 Aces and 3 Assists; and Freshman Katherine Babuka with 1 Ace and 2 Kills.
Coach Brenda Powers commented after the match, "It was a great win for the entire team with strong contribution from all 12 girls on the squad."
The team posted its 9th straight IAC victory with a win over Dryden in 3 straight games 25-22, 26-24, and 25-17 on Thursday October 4th at Dryden.
Powers noted, "This was a tough match with Dryden, both teams played hard with many extended volleys, but in the end the team really pulled through with a lot of heart and hustle."
All three games kept the crowd on the edge of their seats with 5 lead changes the first game, and a point gap of rarely more than 2. Lansing had to battle its way back from being behind in game 2 down by 8 with a score at 20 to 12 when services by Hannah Armstrong followed by Shalyn Watson tied the score at 22. After two quick points by Dryden, Lansing Senior Jada Gooch closed out the game with three solid serves.
In game 3 Dryden jumped out to a quick lead until Freshman Katherine Babuka came up to serve and after 8 unanswered points Lansing took the lead to stay at 18 to 13, until the final point served by Lansing Senior Keara Lowenhar ended the game and the match. Notable game leaders were Co-Captain Hannah Armstrong with 4 aces, 11 kills, 2 blocks, 12 assists, and 4 digs; Co-Captain Kelsey Thomas with 3 kills, 1 block, and Katherine Babuka with 4 kills and 2 assists.
