basketballcourt_120The Bobcat Varsity boys basketball begins the month of February with the last home game of the regular season against Trumansburg and their annual Senior recognition night.  The team has come off of pair of solid, workmanlike, wins over Groton and Union Springs. Next week is the last week of the regular season and is shaping up to be exciting to the very end. The IAC Large School North division is a tight three team race.

"The team is pretty confident right now and we just have to worry about ourselves," says Co-captain Ellington Hopkins.

Co-captain Greg Lehr adds, "We feel pretty good where we are.  It's just about taking care of business one game at a time."

When asked about a key to success against Whitney Point, Lehr says, "A key to overcoming Whitney Point will be rebounding and to get out and transition for some easy baskets."   Hopkins on a key with sharp shooting Moravia "is to make them take tough shots and to not let them get in a rythm."

Whitney Point, who Lansing lost to once, is in first currently with a 3-1 division record and 12-2 overall. Lansing is 3-1 and 11-2 overall.  Dryden may be the league's hottest team and is 2-2 and 10-4 overall. Dryden travels to Whitney Point this Friday in a key divisional matchup.

The Bobcats trio of all road games begins their last week on Tuesday in Moravia,  followed by a make up Thursday clash at Southern Cayuga, and the finale at Whitney Point on Saturday. The Saturday, February 9th game at Whitney Point has the JV contest beginning at 11 AM, with varsity nearer to 12:45 start time.
