townhall_120The Town of Lansing plans to name April 18th as Kyle Dake Day in Lansing at its regular monthly meeting on April 17th (6pm at the Lansing Town Hall).  The Town Board will vote on a proclamation officially declaring the day and honoring Dake.

Dake is a Lansing native who began wrestling in the town's Recreation Youth Wrestling Program.  As a Lansing High School student he became the first Lansing wrestler to win the state championship, and earned the title of state champion twice before he graduated.  Now a Cornell student he is the third wrestler to win four NCAA titles, and the first to do so at four different weights.  He won his fourth NCAA championship March 20 in the 165 weight class.  He finished his college wrestling career with a 137-4 record.

Last week Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick declared that April 4 would be 'Kyle Dake Day' in the City of Ithaca.  Dake is also this year's Hodge Award recipient, awarded to the most outstanding college wrestler of the year.
