August 24, 2007 (ITHACA, NY) - On Thursday, August 30th at 10 am and again on Saturday, September 1st at 10 am and Noon, the Hangar Theatre's Kiddstuff season closes with Aurand Harris' magical and poignant tale of loss, The Arkansaw Bear. The play follows a little girl named Tish, who is saddened and bewildered at her grandfather's approaching death. When she runs to her "special tree," she meets the World's Greatest Dancing Bear. He is old, like her grandfather, and is running away-from death. Blending realism and fantasy, pathos and humor, The Arkansaw Bear is an important work by America's foremost playwright for young audiences that dramatizes a universal truth.
