ImageThe Lansing Girls Varsity Soccer Team did it again last saturday. They won their third straight IAC Championship with their third win of the year over Division I rival Dryden 5-2.

The number one ranked Class B team raced to a 3-1 halftime lead behind two goals from Ellyn Grant-Keane and the other by Megan Palladino. After the intermission, Rachael Palladino added two more goals and a late Dryden penalty kick accounted for all the scoring.

It was another tough, physical encounter with Dryden with plenty of hard tackling going on all over the midfield. The Ladycats won the air battle all night long and their team speed and numerous combination plays were evident. Between Dryden goals, the defense was stellar in snuffing out any counterattacks the Purple Lions tried to muster.

The girls begin Section IV play tonight with a 6pm home encounter with another Division I foe in Newark Valley. They have faced Valley twice this year and have come away with 5-0 and 3-0 wins. The team is seeded second in the section and with a win will play the winner of saturdays contest between Dryden and  Oneonta.
