The upstate Finger Lakes region has been plagued with sub-freezing and sub-zero temperatures for weeks now.  That has taken its toll on lakes and roadways in the region.  Ithaca: Gorges, Waterfalls, and Cayuga Lake posted a picture of the Finger Lakes Region, taken Monday from a NASA satellite.  It shows Cayuga and Seneca Lakes as the only two that are not entirely frozen.

"Yes, even the biggest deepest Finger Lakes are freezing over," says Cayuga Lake Watershed Network Steward/Executive Director Hilary Lambert.

The Finger Lakes from east to west are Otisco, Skaneateles, Owasco, Cayuga, Seneca, Keuka, Canandaigua, Honeoye, Canadice, Hemlock, and Conesus Lakes.  Seneca and Cayuga are the two largest, and are among the deepest lakes in the United States.  Lake Cayuga is approximately 435 feet at its deepest point, close to 53 feet below sea level.
