"At the Cancer Resource Center, we try to support individuals who are experiencing the many side effects of treatment. One way we do this is by providing head scarfs, wigs, and hats for those who experience hair loss, and the quilted tote bags can be used to carry their belongings to treatment," says Executive Director Bob Riter.
"Since the project began in January of this year experienced sewers and quilters have made over 60 beautiful tote bags and a large number of handmade cozy hats for our clients so far," adds Fran Spadafora Manzella, Associate Director. "We'd like to send out a huge thank you to all of the quilters from The Tompkins County Quilters Guild and Quilters Corner, along with Aafke Steenhuis, Kathy Carman, Nancy Ostman, Cyndi Slothower, Katy Barnaby, and Linda Van Nederynen who have contributed time, talent, and lovely material to this very important project,"
This is an ongoing project for the Center.
