The Lansing Recreation Department is accepting sign-ups for the Fall football, soccer, cheerleading, and horses programs and dance camp. Booklets and sign-up sheets are available in the main entrance of the town hall. Call the recreation office with any questions 533-7388. It is critical to register for these programs now!
This year there are two football programs. The Small Fry Football teams will be playing in the Tompkins County Youth Football League. There will be two levels for fourth and fifth graders in the first level, and sixth and seventh graders in the second. Practice begins August 22, and games are played on Sundays beginning September 4, as well as occasional week day games.
For younger players the Rec Department is offering flag football for second and third graders beginning September 6. Practices and games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the possibility of some Saturday afternoons, in a non-contact setting. The program runs through October 20.
The always popular soccer program for grades K-6 runs September 6th through October 13. Also offered is Introduction to Horses for Elementary Kids (K-4). Dance Camps will be an introductory camp for K-6 and Hip Hop dancing for 7-12.
Cheerleading coach Jodi Dake is conducting an August 22 through October 24 Small Fry Cheerleading session for fourth graders and older. This group will do actual cheerleading at the Small Fry football games on Sunday afternoons beginning in September.
More information is available in the town hall in the Recreation Department office and the fall booklet.
